Biodiversity Management Software Forum

Biodiversity_Software_Management_Forum

Naturelinks is excited to be organising the Biodiversity Management Software Forum!

Its purpose is to present software solutions for capturing and sharing biodiversity management data, and provide a forum where biodiversity managers can discuss their challenges and successes in this field.

Presentations

We have lined up the following presentations on Contract/Project Management Software:

  • Mornington Peninsula Shire – discover “Bushland Manager” GIS software (based on Geomedia Smart Client) developed in-house to manage the shire’s bushland and contracts
  • Banyule Council (TBC) – learn about the latest update on the ‘Konect’ software that the Council uses
  • City of Yarra’s Craig McGrath (TBC) – understand how the Fulcrum phone app is being used to both gather and record monitoring data, and to manage biodiversity site contracts.

We also have 2 very special Data Sharing sessions:

1. “Online Platforms for Accessing and Sharing Biodiversity Information” by Visualising Victoria’s Biodiversity (VVB) and State Wide Flora and Fauna Teams (SWIFFT)

Visualising Victoria’s Biodiversity is an online portal that provides access to a wide range of spatial information on Victoria’s environmental values, conservation activities and research. The portal federates and visualises environmental data from national, state, regional and local sources in an interactive spatial interface. It also offers the opportunity for the community to contribute information and exchange locally relevant data and knowledge.

The State Wide Integrated Flora and Fauna Teams is an initiative to advance citizen science by facilitating awareness and the sharing of knowledge in relation to biodiversity conservation and threatened species for Victoria.

2. “Atlas of Living Australia” by Peggy Newman

Peggy Newman will present an overview of the ALA and how it is being used in New South Wales and elsewhere.

Panel Discussions

Attendees will have the chance to discuss their particular successes, challenges and requirements.

We will also be discussing desired objectives coming out of the forum, including the need for a follow up forum and involvement of other industry professionals from other states.

Tickets are available on EventBrite.

We welcome all those interested in participating to email Rob Scott for more information.
